 Inca Trail Trek 3-Day Itinerary

The three-day Inca Trail presents an exceptional expedition, revealing the wonders of the ancient Inca civilization and concluding with the awe-inspiring grandeur of Machu Picchu. This transformative journey not only tests physical capabilities but also enriches the soul with cultural revelations and the allure of natural beauty.

 Day 1: Commencing the Inca Trail Journey

Embark on the magnificent adventure at 4:30 am, as we head to the 82 km railway through the sacred valley of the Incas, a 2-hour and 20-minute ride from Cusco to Llulluchapampa. Enjoy a continental breakfast TIERRA BIRU style before starting the trek through the Inca Trail. The first four hours of moderate hiking lead to Wayllabamba, allowing for a more immersive experience with Peruvian nature. In Llulluchapampa, indulge in afternoon tea with coca leaf and Andean corn popcorn. Covering a distance of 17 km (10.5 miles), the day’s journey reaches a maximum altitude of 3,850 m (12,631 ft) with meals provided throughout.

 Day 2: Ascending Peaks and Ancient Ruins

Commencing from Llulluchapampa, day two takes you through the challenging hike towards Warmiwañusca and Phuyupatamarca. Starting the day with coca tea, the trek progresses towards the summit of Warmiwañusca at 4,200 m. The easier part of the hike unfolds between Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca, covering a total distance of 15 km (9.3 miles). With a maximum altitude of 4,200 m (13,779 ft), the journey explores Warmiwañuka, Runkuracay Pass, Runkuracay, Sayacmarca, and Conchamarca ruins. Meals are provided throughout this challenging day.

 Day 3: Machu Picchu Exploration and Return to Cusco

On the final day, the trek from Phuyupatamarca leads to the iconic Machu Picchu, with hikers arriving at 9 a.m. to commence an exploration tour through the Inca citadel. Covering a total distance of 11 km (6.8 miles), the day’s trek concludes with a visit to Machu Picchu ruins. The maximum altitude reached is 3,600 m (11,811 ft), and the camp altitude is 2,400 m (7,874 ft). Meals provided include breakfast and lunch. After this remarkable experience, the journey concludes with a return to Cusco.
