 Sillustani Necropolis Tour: 4-Hour Itinerary

The tour begins with pick-up at the hotel (located in the city center) or at the Plaza de Armas, heading towards the Sillustani Archaeological Complex, located 33 km from the city of Puno, approximately 30 minutes by car.

During the trip, our guide will provide information about the city of Puno, its history and the origins of the Sillustani tombs, belonging to the Kolla culture (1200-1450), which thrived in the northern part of the lake, in the town known as Hatuncolla.

Upon arrival, we will take a walk through the archaeological site of Sillustani, built in the 12th century by a civilization that inhabited the area before Inca rule. The creators of the impressive funerary towers are known to have been part of the Kolla culture.

The most imposing towers were built for important leaders and priests. Considered sacred places by locals, these sites continue to host ceremonial and ritual activities to this day. We will have free time to rest and take photos by Lake Umayo.

Finally, we will return to the city of Puno.
