Chavín de Huántar Full Day
We depart from Huaraz toward Chavín, making our first stop at Querococha Lagoon (3,980 m), where we can admire the landscape and view the geological fault said to form Peru’s map, with time for photos. Next, we cross the Cahuish Tunnel (4,450 m), a landmark section of the route known for its altitude and mountain scenery. We then arrive at the Chavín de Huántar Archaeological Monument, exploring its ceremonial plazas, the Portico of the Falconids, underground galleries, the Lanzón Monolith, the Stone Heads (Cabezas Clavas), and other features that showcase Chavín’s architectural and religious complexity. After the archaeological visit, we enjoy lunch at a tourist restaurant in the town of Chavín, then visit the Chavín Archaeological Museum, where you’ll see key artifacts from the culture, including the original Tello Obelisk, among others. Finally, we return to Huaraz to end the service.
