Itinerary
Immerse yourself in the living culture of the Peruvian Altiplano with the Amantani 2D/1N Tour, an authentic Lake Titicaca experience combining history, landscapes, and local community life. The journey starts at the Uros Floating Islands, where you’ll learn how totora reeds are used to build islands, homes, and boats. Then you’ll sail to Amantani, where a host family welcomes you for a homestay night with traditional meals and an evening of music and dance. A walk to the Pachatata Temple (4,200 m) offers one of the best panoramic views of the lake. On day two, visit Taquile, famous worldwide for its extraordinary textile art, exploring paths and ancient terraces before returning to Puno. Perfect for travelers looking for deeper cultural connection and unforgettable scenery.
Between 07:30 and 08:00 a.m., we pick you up from your hotel in Puno and transfer to the pier to board the motorboat. After approximately 2 hours of navigation, we arrive at the Uros Floating Islands, home to one of the oldest cultures on the lake. During the visit, you’ll learn how the community uses totora reeds to build and maintain their floating islands, houses, and boats, and discover their traditional lifestyle and connection to the lake.We then continue by boat to Amantani Island, where you’ll meet local families who accompany you to their homes for accommodation in basic traditional rooms; the host family provides the included meals. In the afternoon, we walk up to the island’s highest point, the Pachatata Temple (4,200 m), for spectacular Titicaca views. After your guide’s explanation, we return for dinner and later enjoy a cultural evening with traditional music and dances. Overnight in a family home.
At 08:00 a.m., after breakfast with the family, we regroup and sail for about 3 hours to Taquile Island. Upon arrival, we take a guided visit through the main square and island trails, learning about local culture, social organization, traditional clothing, and daily life. Taquile is famous for its exceptional handwoven textiles, recognized worldwide, so we visit the local cooperative shop and enjoy short walks with views of pre-Inca and Inca terraces. We then enjoy lunch at the cooperative restaurant. In the afternoon, between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., we return by boat to Puno and transfer you back to your hotel.
