Itinerary
Step into Peru’s deepest origins at the Sacred City of Caral, considered the oldest civilization in the Americas and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. On this shared full-day trip from Lima, travel north to a monumental archaeological complex that reveals the beginnings of Andean culture through its pyramids, ceremonial plazas, and amphitheater. Set within the landscapes of the Supe Valley, Caral offers a one-of-a-kind experience for history lovers, archaeology fans, and curious travelers looking to understand Peru beyond the Incas.
At 6:00 a. m. we begin with hotel pick-up and travel north toward the Sacred City of Caral, regarded as the oldest civilization in Peru and the Americas. During the drive, your guide explains the importance of this extraordinary site, located 23 km from Supe at km 180 of the Pan-American Highway North, and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage cultural property. Upon arrival, we enjoy a guided tour of the complex’s key areas, learning about the first Andean civilization discovered by archaeologist Ruth Shady Solís. We visit the main pyramid, ceremonial patios, and the amphitheater, while enjoying panoramic views of the valley and insights into Caral’s social and cultural organization.
