Itinerary
Explore one of southern Peru’s most dramatic landscapes on the Colca Canyon Tour, a scenic route blending nature, Andean culture, and unforgettable viewpoints. You’ll leave Arequipa before sunrise and travel into the valley through highland scenery until reaching Chivay, where you recharge with breakfast. The highlight of the day is the Condor’s Cross (Cruz del Cóndor), a prime spot to watch the majestic Andean condor soaring above the canyon and to truly feel its immense depth. On the way back, you’ll stop at natural viewpoints and traditional villages such as Maca and Yanque, where you can see colonial churches, local handicrafts, and everyday life in the Colca Valley. A perfect one-day experience for travelers seeking spectacular scenery, culture, and a comfortable adventure.
We start the tour with hotel pick-up in Arequipa between 03:00 and 03:30 a.m., heading toward the Colca Valley. During the journey we travel to Chivay, where we enjoy breakfast. We then continue to the Condor’s Cross Viewpoint (Cruz del Cóndor), one of the most important stops of the tour, where we can watch the majestic Andean condor in flight and admire the impressive depth of Colca Canyon. On the return route, we stop at several natural viewpoints and in traditional villages such as Maca and Yanque, learning about local culture, colonial churches, and typical handicrafts. Around midday, there is time for lunch in Chivay (optional). Finally, we return to Arequipa, arriving approximately between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m..
