Itinerary
Take the road less traveled with the 4-day / 3-night Lares Trek to Machu Picchu, an authentic journey combining Andean landscapes, living culture and a relaxing start in the mountains. You’ll travel through the Sacred Valley to the Lares medicinal hot springs, enjoy a soothing bath, and then hike to highland camps surrounded by wide valleys and peaks. Along the trail you’ll visit traditional Quechua communities like Canchacancha, known for its handwoven textiles, and reach the spectacular Condor Pass (~4,100 masl) with impressive views of the Verónica snow peak. After days of trekking and camping, you’ll connect by train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes for a well-deserved rest—then finish with a guided visit to the Machu Picchu citadel. It’s the perfect choice for travelers who want culture, nature and fewer crowds, without missing the iconic finale.
Very early, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and begin the adventure through the Sacred Valley of the Incas toward Lares. We’ll arrive at the Lares hot springs, where you can enjoy a relaxing soak—an excellent way to acclimatize and recharge before trekking. After lunch, you’ll start hiking to the Kiswarani campsite, walking through beautiful high-Andean scenery with open valleys, corrals and mountain views, at a comfortable pace with time for photos and nature watching.

After breakfast, you’ll continue through the valley to the Canchacancha community, famous for traditional Peruvian textiles, where you’ll get a close look at local life and ancestral weaving techniques. You’ll then climb to the Condor Pass (~4,100 masl), a panoramic viewpoint with an impressive sight of the Verónica snow peak and high-Andean scenery. After enjoying the pass, you’ll descend gently to the Qelqanta campsite, surrounded by mountain biodiversity and wide open skies—perfect for a peaceful night in nature.

You’ll begin descending toward Canchacancha, where you’ll have lunch and say goodbye to the highest landscapes of the trek. You’ll then walk about 2 hours to Huaran, a fertile valley on the Vilcanota River, known for agricultural scenery, terraces and the greener atmosphere of the Sacred Valley. In the afternoon, you’ll transfer to board the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll spend the night, ready for Machu Picchu.
